Who am I?

Petteri JärvinenI started my career in the early 80s, when the first microcomputers came to stores in Finland. Machines were exciting and changed the world. Word processing, spreadsheets and computer games created a completely new culture and opened a new world of data processing.

Then came Windows, viruses, local networks, information security, e-mail, internet, mobile devices (Nokia!), social media, cryptocurrencies, artificial intelligence… I’ve witnessed them all with my own eyes.

Nowadays I share my experience and views at various speaking and training events. I try to keep them fun, inspiring and useful. Things are not complicated, although experts often like to make them seem like that. It’s possible to talk clearly and practically about technical engineering issues. Today it is easier than ever before, because technology has become a part of everyday life. Things are interconnected and there is no more room for narrow thinking.

I’ve written 36 non-fiction books and about 2,000 articles and columns. My monthly column in Tivi/Tietokone magazine has been published monthly since 1984.

Currently I follow the fields of information security, artificial intelligence and IT trends, which are all developing at an amazing pace.
